Pizarra 2.0

Pizarra 2.0 is a premium 2cm outdoor porcelain paver designed for patios, rooftops, and pool decks. With frost-proof performance and anti-slip texture, this European-made paver thrives in West Coast weather conditions. Available at our Richmond showroom.

Slate is the reference for Pizarra 2.0, a European-made outdoor porcelain paver that carries the cleft, layered surface of natural slate in Cream, Grey and Antracite. Faces are non-repeating, so the riven texture varies from paver to paver the way split stone does. The collection comes in 24x24 and 24x48 inch formats at a full 2cm thickness.

Natural slate can flake and shed layers as water works into it; a porcelain interpretation holds the texture permanently. With near-zero absorption there is no frost damage, no sealing and no spalling, and the anti-slip finish is made for wet exterior use, which is most of the year here. Pizarra 2.0 suits craftsman and contemporary homes alike, anywhere in Greater Vancouver that wants real texture underfoot.

Applications

Where Pizarra 2.0 Works

Front walkways and entries

The riven slate texture gives an entry path grip and character, and the 24x24 format sets easily over gravel or a mortar bed on existing steps and landings.

Ground-level patios

At 2cm over compacted gravel, sand or mortar, the pavers build a patio with the depth of split stone and none of slate's flaking or sealing requirements.

Rooftop and balcony floors

The pavers rest on adjustable pedestals to float a level slate-look deck above membranes, keeping drainage open underneath and every single unit accessible for inspection.

Hot tub surrounds

Textured anti-slip footing matters most where water splashes constantly, and a non-porous surface stands up to chemicals and constant wet-dry cycling without staining or flaking apart.

Design Notes

Pairing & Layout Ideas

Antracite is the dramatic pick, close to true slate roofs and dark window frames; Cream softens the same texture for lighter exteriors, and Grey sits between them. The texture pairs well with smooth surroundings: rendered walls, glass railings, still water. Within the outdoor range, Town 2.0 shares the same European formats if an adjoining zone wants a calmer urban stone face. Use a charcoal or grey exterior joint with Antracite, and a warm sand tone with Cream.

FAQ

Pizarra 2.0 Questions

What makes Pizarra 2.0 different from natural slate?

Visually, little at arm's length; practically, a lot. Slate is a layered stone that can shed flakes and absorb water, while this porcelain version fires the riven texture into a body that absorbs almost nothing. No sealing, no spalling, and colour that holds under UV.

Is the textured surface hard to clean?

Not particularly. The texture gives grip but the material itself is non-porous, so dirt sits in the surface relief rather than soaking in. A stiff broom and a hose handle routine cleaning, and mild detergent lifts anything the rain does not.

Which sizes are available?

Two formats, 24x24 and 24x48 inches, both 2cm thick. The square is the workhorse for paths and compact patios, while the 24x48 covers larger terraces faster and suits linear layouts. The two combine cleanly for banded or blocked patterns.

Can I view Pizarra 2.0 before deciding?

Yes. It is part of our European outdoor paver display at the Richmond showroom, where you can see the texture in person next to Town 2.0 and take samples home. Walk-ins are welcome, or call 604-270-4993 with questions.
