Ceramic tiles are fired at lower temperatures (around 1000°C vs 1200°C+ for porcelain), making them slightly more porous and softer. This makes ceramic lighter, easier to cut, and more affordable — ideal for walls. Porcelain's density makes it better for floors and outdoor use.

Can ceramic tiles be used in showers?

Yes, glazed ceramic tiles are excellent for shower walls. The glazed surface is waterproof. However, the tile joints must be properly grouted and sealed, and a waterproofing membrane is essential behind the tiles. For shower floors, use porcelain with anti-slip finish.

How do I clean ceramic wall tiles?

Glazed ceramic tiles are very easy to clean — warm water with a mild detergent and a soft cloth is all you need. For grout, use a pH-neutral grout cleaner periodically. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can dull the glaze over time.

What grout should I use with ceramic tiles?
