Masovia

Masovia is a premium European subway tile that brings handcrafted character to walls. Perfect for kitchen backsplashes, bathroom walls, and feature walls. The refined texture and artisanal quality elevate any space. Available at our Richmond showroom.

Masovia takes the familiar subway shape and gives it the soft, slightly irregular character of handmade tile. This European ceramic wall tile comes in glossy and matte finishes across a colour range that includes the creamy Avoro and the sea-toned Turchese, with faces that vary tile to tile so a finished wall catches light unevenly, the way artisanal glazes do.

At 8mm thick, the ceramic body is light and easy to work, suited to any sound interior wall. The handcrafted look does what flat subway tile cannot: it adds texture and depth to a backsplash or shower without introducing pattern or colour complexity. Masovia fits character homes, heritage renovations and new builds around Greater Vancouver that want warmth built into the details.

Where Masovia Works

Backsplashes with character

Under-cabinet lighting brings the glaze variation alive, giving a simple white or Avoro run more depth than a flat tile could manage, and the glossy surface wipes clean as easily as ever.

Shower and bath walls

The handmade look wraps showers and tub surrounds gracefully, and the light-catching surface keeps an all-white bathroom from feeling clinical. Ceramic tolerates steam and daily soaking without complaint.

Feature walls and niches

A band of Turchese in a niche or a full feature wall introduces colour the artisanal way, through glaze depth rather than bold pattern, easy to balance with neutral surroundings.

Cafes and hospitality walls

The hand-finished look suits counters, bars and restaurant walls where guests sit close enough to notice materials, and a glazed ceramic surface stands up to nightly cleaning.

Design Notes

Pairing & Layout Ideas

Handmade-look tile asks for simple company: shaker or flat-panel cabinetry, stone or quartz counters with gentle veining, and brushed or aged brass hardware. Avoro warms kitchens with wood tones, while Turchese suits bathrooms and powder rooms looking for colour. Monpelli is the collection to compare it against, a crisper take on the same European subway format. Grout choice is expressive here: a tone-on-tone joint keeps walls soft, a contrasting one turns the bond pattern into the feature.

FAQ

Masovia Questions

What sizes does Masovia come in?

It is produced in a range of subway formats rather than a single size, and availability rotates through the year. Tell us the wall you are tiling and we will confirm which formats and colours are currently in stock, plus lead times for the rest.

Is Masovia actually handmade?

It is a ceramic tile manufactured in Europe to look and feel handcrafted, with the gentle surface irregularity of artisan tile but the consistency, flatness and price of a production line. You get the character without the sorting and breakage of true handmade batches.

Glossy or matte for a handcrafted look?

Glossy is the classic choice, because the surface undulation only reveals itself when light moves across a reflective glaze. Matte reads softer and more contemporary and hides splash marks. Many projects use glossy on the kitchen backsplash and matte in the bathroom.

Can Masovia go on floors or outside?

No, it is an interior wall tile in an 8mm ceramic body. Keep it to backsplashes, bathroom walls and vertical features indoors. For floors or exterior surfaces we carry porcelain lines built for those jobs, and the two can be coordinated by colour.
