Marquina CX Mosaic

Marquina CX Mosaic replicates the prestigious Nero Marquina marble with gold veining in a 2x2 square mosaic format. Creates stunning accent surfaces in luxury bathrooms and feature walls.

Few marbles are as instantly recognizable as Nero Marquina, deep black cut through with fine light veining, and Marquina CX Mosaic reproduces that drama with gold-toned veins in a 2x2 glazed porcelain mosaic. Mounted on 12x12 sheets with non-repeating faces, it turns shower floors, niches and backsplashes into deliberate statements.

Black marble is famously fussy: it etches, spots and needs regular sealing. The glazed porcelain here carries none of that baggage, shrugging off cleaners and hard use at 8mm thick with a matte surface. For Metro Vancouver clients who want a jewel-like accent in a bathroom or bar area, this is the low-risk way to get it.

Applications

Where Marquina CX Mosaic Works

Statement shower floors

A black and gold pan under plain walls flips the usual hierarchy, making the floor the feature. The matte finish and mosaic grout grid keep it practical underfoot.

Shower niches

One or two sheets line a niche in black and gold, framing everyday bottles like a display case. It is a quick way to add the collection's drama without committing a full floor.

Vanity backsplashes

Behind a vanity with brass hardware, the gold veining ties fixtures and tile together, and the small grid keeps the darkness from overwhelming a compact bathroom.

Fireplace surrounds

An indoor hearth face in black and gold mosaic reads tailored and warm, and porcelain is untroubled by the radiant heat a domestic fireplace puts out.

Design Notes

Pairing & Layout Ideas

Its natural counterpart is Calacatta CX Mosaic, the white and gold sibling in the same 2x2 format, and the two combine beautifully: white field with a black niche, or the reverse. The Marquina CX field collection extends the same look to large formats for walls. Brushed gold or brass fixtures are the obvious hardware direction, and warm white paint keeps the contrast rich rather than harsh. A deep charcoal grout blends the joints and lets the gold veining carry the detail.

FAQ

Marquina CX Mosaic Questions

Is the veining really gold?

It is a printed gold-beige tone within the glaze, warm and convincing as stone but not a metallic foil. Against the black ground it reads as classic Marquina with a warmer cast, and it picks up noticeably under warm lighting in the evening.

Is a black mosaic hard to keep looking clean?

The matte glaze is forgiving, and the veining helps disguise soap film between cleans. A rinse after showering and a neutral cleaner weekly is generally all it takes. Unlike natural black marble, there is no etching or sealing to think about at all.

Where should I use it if not a whole shower?

Small doses work brilliantly: a niche, a backsplash strip, the face of a tub step, a powder room floor. Because sheets are 12x12 inches, even a modest accent area is quick to plan, quick to install and easy to budget.

Can I see it in person before committing?

Yes, Marquina CX Mosaic is on display at our Richmond showroom on Bridgeport Road, alongside its Calacatta counterpart and the matching large format tiles. Walk-ins are welcome on weekdays and Saturdays, and samples can be checked against your fixtures at home.
