Marquina CX
Black and gold Marquina marble in porcelain.

Marquina CX
Marquina CX replicates the prestigious Nero Marquina marble with its signature gold veining on a deep black base. This collection delivers dramatic luxury and is perfect for feature walls, bathroom floors, and high-end commercial spaces.
Few stones are as recognizable as Nero Marquina, and Marquina CX reproduces it in glazed porcelain: a deep black ground crossed with fine gold veining. Non-repeating faces keep the drama believable across a full wall, and the collection runs from a 2x2 square mosaic through 24x24 to 24x48 field tile, in polished or matte finishes.
This is a look people usually reserve for a small marble accent because of cost and upkeep; in porcelain it can cover a whole floor. There is no sealing, no etching, and the 8mm body stands up to daily indoor traffic. Around Metro Vancouver it shows up most in powder rooms, ensuites, fireplace walls and higher-end retail and restaurant fit-outs.

Applications
Where Marquina CX Works
Powder room drama
A small room is the classic place for a bold tile. Wrap all four walls in polished Marquina CX and the space becomes the memorable one in the house.
Fireplace and TV walls
Black and gold veining behind a fire or media wall reads as a marble slab installation at tile cost, and porcelain is comfortable around the heat of a fireplace surround.
Ensuite walls and niches
Polished on shower walls delivers the full Marquina effect, with the 2x2 mosaic ready for the shower floor and niche so the whole room stays in one stone.
Hospitality and retail
Reception desk fronts, restaurant washrooms and boutique feature floors all suit a matte Marquina, which reads rich under commercial lighting while hiding scuffs better than gloss.
Design Notes
Pairing & Layout Ideas
Marquina CX asks for restraint elsewhere. Brass or gold hardware picks up the veining directly, white walls and pale counters give the black room to breathe, and warm dimmable lighting keeps it from going flat at night. On floors, a tone-matched charcoal grout is the clean choice. Pair it with a white marble look such as Calacatta CX or Passion when you want the classic black and white combination without mixing materials.
FAQ
Marquina CX Questions
Is the gold veining metallic?
It is printed as part of the glazed porcelain face, in the warm ochre-gold tones of natural Nero Marquina, not applied metal. That means it will not tarnish or wear off, and it reads as stone rather than glitter. Viewing a full piece shows the effect better than any photo.
Where should I avoid the polished finish?
On floors that get wet. Polished porcelain is slippery underfoot in showers and bath areas, so use matte for wet floors and keep polished for walls and dry areas. The 2x2 mosaic handles shower pans, where the frequent grout lines provide the grip.
Will a black tile make my bathroom feel small?
Not necessarily. Dark tile with good lighting and a large mirror can add depth, and the gold veining keeps the surface active. Many designers wrap small powder rooms entirely in dark stone precisely because the room reads as a jewel box rather than a shrunken white room.
What formats can I get?
Marquina CX comes in 24 x 48 and 24 x 24 field tile plus a 2 x 2 square mosaic, each in polished or matte. That range covers walls, floors, shower pans and accent strips from one collection, which keeps veining and tone consistent across the room.
