Solaro

Solaro captures the warm, understated beauty of Portuguese limestone in a durable porcelain format.

Portuguese limestone has a fine, even grain that architects have specified for generations, and Solaro brings that character into porcelain. The patterning is soft and mineral, with tiny fossil-like flecks rather than veins, across four colourways from pale Bianco to deep Mink. Non-repeating faces keep the surface looking authentic over large installed areas.

Real limestone is soft and absorbent, which rules it out of many hardworking spaces; porcelain removes both objections. Solaro handles kitchens, bathrooms and busy entries without sealing or special cleaners. For Metro Vancouver projects, it delivers a European stone look suited to both heritage-styled homes and clean contemporary builds, indoors year round.

Applications

Where Solaro Works

Kitchen and family room floors

An even, low-contrast grain keeps big connected spaces cohesive. The 24x48 tiles cross kitchen and family zones with few grout lines and no pattern noise.

Classic bathrooms

Limestone looks bridge traditional and modern bathrooms with ease. Matte Crema or Natural across floors and walls creates the soft, stone-clad feeling of a European bathhouse.

Entryways and mudrooms

The deeper Mink colourway hides the traffic marks of a busy entry, while porcelain ignores the rain, grit and salt tracked inside through a wet Vancouver winter.

Commercial interiors

The restrained stone patterning suits cafes, clinics and office interiors, and 1cm porcelain in a matte finish keeps cleaning and upkeep simple across high-use floors.

Design Notes

Pairing & Layout Ideas

Solaro's even grain acts like a textile background: nearly any cabinetry colour reads well against it, from deep green to warm white. Bianco and Crema flatter brass and light oak; Natural and Mink pair with black steel and walnut. Keep grout within a shade of the tile for a seamless stone effect. Cashmere offers a similar softness in a different tonal range, and Lithos leans cooler if the room calls for grey.

FAQ

Solaro Questions

What does Portuguese limestone actually look like?

Think fine, even grain with faint fossil flecks and almost no veining, closer to suede than to marble. Solaro reproduces that low-contrast character, which is why it works in both minimal and traditional rooms without tipping the style either way.

Is Solaro only for floors?

No, the application is floor and wall. The 24x24 size works nicely on bathroom and feature walls, and running the same tile from floor up the wall is a common way to give a room a monolithic stone look without mixing materials.

How does it cope with a busy household?

Well. Porcelain resists scratches from chairs and pet claws, does not stain, and cleans with a damp mop. The low-contrast patterning also hides crumbs and dust better than plain solid-colour tile, so it stays presentable between cleanings.

Can I compare all four colours in person?

Yes, the collection is on display at our Richmond showroom at #3-11240 Bridgeport Rd. Seeing Bianco through Mink side by side makes the undertones clear, and staff can pull samples for you to check against your cabinetry and counters at home.
