Macigno

Macigno delivers an industrial stone aesthetic in a full-body porcelain format.

Macigno is the workhorse of this cement style lineup: a full-body porcelain, meaning the colour runs through the entire thickness of the tile rather than sitting only in a surface layer. Its industrial stone character comes in seven colours, from White, Sand and Taupe through Silver, Grey and Pewter to Black, in matte 24x48 and 24x24 formats with non-repeating faces.

Full-body construction is valued in demanding settings because an edge chip reveals the same colour beneath, staying far less visible than on glazed tile. Combined with porcelain's near-zero absorption and 1cm thickness, that makes Macigno a sound specification for high-traffic Metro Vancouver homes, offices and commercial floors, while the broad palette covers warm and cool schemes alike.

Applications

Where Macigno Works

High traffic commercial floors

Full-body porcelain is a standard choice where carts, heels and constant footfall punish a floor. Any edge wear stays the same colour as the surface, keeping the installation presentable for years.

Warm toned living areas

Sand and Taupe bring cement style into rooms that lean cozy rather than industrial, working with wood furniture, wool textiles and warm paint instead of fighting them.

Moody dark floors

Black and Pewter build dramatic kitchens and powder rooms. The matte finish keeps dark floors from becoming a mirror for every window, and the mottled face hides dust.

Wall and floor pairings

With seven colours in one collection, you can run a light tone on floors and a darker one on a feature wall while texture stays consistent across the whole room.

Design Notes

Pairing & Layout Ideas

Macigno's palette is broad enough to pair with itself: White floors with a Pewter fireplace wall, or Sand floors below Taupe walls, keep a scheme cohesive with one texture. Beyond the collection, Silver and Grey sit well beside the terrazzo fleck of Techstone, while Sand complements the warmer stone tones of Cashmere. Choose matte black or aged brass hardware, and keep grout within a shade of the tile so the industrial surface reads as monolithic.

FAQ

Macigno Questions

What does full-body porcelain actually mean?

The pigment and material are consistent through the tile's full thickness, not just carried on the surface. If an edge ever chips under hard impact, the exposed core is the same colour, so damage is much harder to spot. It is a construction favoured for commercial and high-traffic floors.

Seven colours is a lot. Where do I start?

Decide first whether your scheme is warm or cool. Warm rooms with wood and cream tones point to White, Sand or Taupe; cooler, black-and-glass spaces suit Silver, Grey, Pewter or Black. From there, viewing two finalists side by side in daylight usually settles it quickly.

Is Macigno suitable for heated floors?

Yes. Porcelain conducts and holds warmth well, making it a common pairing with electric or hydronic radiant systems. There are no special constraints from the full-body construction; your installer sets it as they would any porcelain tile over a properly prepared heated substrate.

Can I use Macigno outside on a covered patio?

The collection is specified for indoor floors and walls, so we recommend keeping it inside. For patios, balconies and walkways, purpose-made 2cm outdoor pavers are the sounder route, since they are engineered for pedestal, gravel, sand or mortar installation in exterior conditions.
